A visit to one of the many islands of the Limfiord means an amazing nature experience. Even if most of the islands are small, you will find very different kinds of nature from island to island. In the following we will give you some ideas and suggestions for a visit to the most interesting islands.

Mors Mors is the biggest island and is connected with Jutland by the Vilsundbroen (bridge) to the north west and by the Sallingsundsbroen (bridge) to the south east. The biggest town of the island is the old and very cosy market town Nykøbing Mors dating back to the 13th century. The island has a fantastic nature, but furthermore a range of exciting attractions and landmarks. The most well-known attraction is Jesperhus, a flower garden, a zoo and a fun city (children’s play area) all in one. On the island you will find museums, churches, local craftsmen and their products and the beautiful Højriis Castle.

Fur Also here on this small island the nature is something special. There are some rather tall hills offering a gorgeous view to the Limfiord, and the northern beach has the famous, steep “moler” (special type of clay) cliffs. The island has also beautiful beaches for swimming and bathing, and if you would like to get to know Fur and its landmarks, you must follow the marked paths (12 km) taking you around the island. On your way you pass by the well-known micro brewery Fur Bryghus where they brew the beer according to the old traditions and methods. You may also visit the Fur Museum to admire the outstanding collection of the 55 million years old fossils found in the “moler”. Fur can only be reached by ferry. The ferry service works each and every day all year round, and it takes only a few minutes to reach the island.

Venø In spite of its smallness Venø has a beautiful and varied nature. There are green fields, steep slopes and lovely areas covered with wood. In the northern part of the island you will find the water area called Nørskov Vig, and here you have an interesting bird life. The reserve is closed to the public from the first of April to the 15th of July. Venø can only be reached by ferry. There is a ferry service all year round, and it takes you to Venø in a few minutes.
